M. Kang ( Administrator at TDSB) –
“As a school administrator I would highly encourage the use of MoolaMinds within the classroom setting to support students with the new Financial Literacy Curriculum. Through the support of flash cards depicting real life scenarios as well the correct language used in relation to money talk, MoolaMinds is the perfect tool for children to feel good about money talks! Through this kit, students/children can learn about smart money matters independently, with a peer or as a whole group with an adult or teacher. I would highly recommend using some of your moola to invest in a MoolaMinds kit today.”
Jennie B ( Teacher at TDSB) –
“I have been an elementary teacher for 18 years and I am always trying to keep up with the ever changing curriculum, trends and needs of my learners. When I came across the Money Confidence Kit from Moola Minds I was thrilled! What an excellent resource to teach financial literacy to my grade 4 and 5 combined class. Teaching two grades at once is always a challenge, but this kit works perfectly to address the curriculum for both grades at the same time. The kit is well formatted with a thorough teacher guide, google slides, videos, blackline masters, assessments, downloadable/printable materials and activity cards. The kit makes teaching a new unit a breeze. What I really find valuable is how it allows me to differentiate learning for all the unique needs in my classroom. The creators have gone above and beyond to present diverse and relatable characters to reflect the diversity in my classroom. Another element that I think makes this resource stand out is the growth mindset it encourages through inquiry and critical thinking. It really is a unique and complete resource that checks every box.”
Godwin Alfred-Guymour, Grade 6 Teacher in the TDSB –
MoolaMinds is an excellent resource as it incorporates real life scenarios that students can engage with and learn from. The lessons are open-ended and at the same time, thought provoking.
Anjali Chopra (Grade 5 Teacher, PDSB) –
I had the pleasure of trying out the grade 5 unit in my classroom. My students loved this unit! This resource is WONDERFUL!!!! My students love the videos and discussion questions! We had some great thought-provoking discussions. I let them work in groups and I’ve never seen so focused. I especially love the teacher guide units that lay-out the way the unit could be presented as a pacing guide, identified key vocabulary, and even a heads-up on some possible answers’ students may have during the unit. This unit aligns perfectly with the Ontario Curriculum. They are kid-friendly and give excellent, clear practice. Financial Literacy is so important for kids to learn at a young age. By the end of the unit my students were thinking about their future, how are they going to save and “invest” in their future. Highly recommend! Thank you for this great resource!
Mr. Stephen Krawczyk (Grade 4 Teacher, Peel District School Board) –
“I recently completed the Moolaminds Financial Literacy unit with my Grade 4 class, and would definitely recommend it to my colleagues. The lesson plans aligned very well with Ontario Math Curriculum, and were easy to implement.
Most importantly, my class was highly engaged throughout the unit as they learned about important concepts such as different methods of payment, developing a money mindset, and examining the value of different items.
Students were able to relate well with the Moolamind characters presented in the Slideshow and video clips. They participated very actively during class discussions, and enjoyed the various activities throughout the unit, including the flash cards.
I was grateful to have this teaching tool as I taught my students about the importance of financial planning, and will certainly use the Moolaminds Financial Literacy unit next year.”
Ms. Roy, Grade 5 Teacher at QueensGate Academy –
“The MoolaMinds unit plan has been wonderful – I really enjoy the guiding questions and examples. The students have experienced such lively and profound discussions about the concepts, which, notably, has not happened in our math class like this before. Also, the students are really engaged with the subject material and are eager to share their thoughts and wonderings. Thank you for this outstanding program. “
Hayley Graham, Educator, Simcoe Country District School Board –
“We loved the characters and the stories. My students were able to recall the characters better than myself! The names helped students determine which each term meant. Students really enjoyed the lesson formats, and were relatively engaging for them. Students loved the activities about the shoe (research types of shoes with a budget). We would have liked to see more activities relating to making change and calculating costs. Students really struggled with making change, and updates here will prove beneficial. I would definitely like to use it next year, when you have a Grade 6 version.”
T. Telford, Educator, Simcoe County District School Board. –
“It was great for multi grade centres. Maybe some more independent activities for the next version.”
Adele, Grade 8 Educator, Guiding Light Academy –
“Representatives from Moola Minds visited our school to teach the students from Grade 3-8 about financial literacy. I learnt that people develop their learning habits at around the age of 7, so it is very important the students learn how to manage money.
The program was very interactive; it was very open and students were invited to share and discuss. The presenters were very knowledgeable on the topic. They played a few YouTube videos and explained many terms like “credit score”, “interest”, “good and bad debt”. and more. Their characters in the videos provided real-life examples. Overall, the financial literacy program was very interesting and up to open-discussion.

The workshop helped students expand their knowledge of how to do budgeting and automate personal finances. The workshop enlightened students on how they can create a financial portfolio or a business plan. These topics definitely were helpful in building students’ personal independence, giving them the skills to make wise decisions financially and socially.
Ms. N Rifal – Educator, Creative Drive Tutoring Services –
Overall, I think this is a great financial literacy workshop. It covers all of the key topics in personal finance in a way that is easy to understand. I would recommend this workshop to anyone who wants to improve their financial literacy.
